Gossamer Volume: Kavajës Residential Tower

Tirana, Albania

The Kavajës Residential Tower wraps high-density housing with a double-scale, double-perforated metal skin that ties residents to the city and the city to residents. Approaching the overall volume from the exterior reveals a delicate façade across which balcony-sized holes shuffle. From the interior, these same human-scale openings frame views of the city while the screen's fine-grained lacework protects residents from the Mediterranean sun.
